PLT FOCUS ON EARLY CHILDHOOD
Engage in nature-based exploration, art, literature, math, music and movement, and outdoor play. Plan to incorporate this into your work with young learners.
FOCUS ON LITERACY
Dive into PLT activities and children’s literature in this engaging, multidisciplinary workshop. Leave class with a unit you build yourself, which will address multiple content standards and skills. Result: Happy learning experiences for both you and your students!
PLT ENGAGING ELEMENTARY
Receive training in the PLT Environmental Education Activity Guide. Use nature-based activities to bring learning alive both outdoors and in your classroom. Make plans to incorporate standards aligned PLT activities into elementary curriculum – Language Arts, Science, Math, Social Studies, Arts and more!
PROJECT GREEN SUMMIT
Join fellow educators and resource providers to share and learn strategies for using the outdoor classroom. Also addressed: the unique challenges faced by rural and remote school districts. An optional third day is a hands-on Forest Field Day with PLT and Society of American Foresters. 1-2 PD credits available.
PLT WALK IN THE FOREST
Spend two days learning in the beautiful Priest River Experimental Forest. The first day experience PLT activities to use with young people. The next day, participate in the Forest Field Day – open to family members for a nominal additional fee.
SUSTAINABLE FORESTRY TOUR
If you’re a teacher or school counselor of students in 6th-12th grades, please apply to attend the Sustainable Forestry Tour – a VIP experience in the forests and mills of northern Idaho. Deadline for application is March 31, 2020.
Engage your students in understanding how and why the climate of Earth is changing and what can be done about it. Receive training and award-winning materials from Project Learning Tree, Project WET and Boise State University.
PLT HOT TOPICS: FIRE
Learn about the relationship between climate, invasive species and fire; the role fire will likely play in the future; and the pluses and minuses of various management options. Standards-aligned hands-on activities will help participants transfer the information and experiences to the classroom.
