Everyone knows that forests in Idaho are amazing! They provide environmental, social and economic benefits. They also provide jobs – and a lot of them!  Thru The Trees is a video contest for 14-18 year-old students.  The contest encourages students to explore jobs and careers in the forest sector. The grand prize winner of the contest earns $1,000!

About Thru The Trees

WHO may participate? Students ages 14-18 years from Washington, Oregon, Idaho or Montana. Students may submit entries as individuals or work with other students in a team.

WHY should you enter? This is your chance to explore the diverse employment opportunities that await you in the forest sector. From logger to forester, sawmill worker, human resources administrator and company CEO, the forest sector offers high-demand employment with living wages, benefits and a good quality of life.

WHAT is the purpose of the contest? You are invited to make a video that creatively provides information about the value of one or more jobs in the forest sector. Winning videos will be shared with others through websites, social media and other venues.

WHAT are the prizes?

  • FINALIST (Twelve awarded): $100

  • GRAND PRIZE (one awarded): $1000

  • SECOND PRIZE (one awarded): $500

  • THIRD PRIZE (one awarded): $250

Prize winners are chosen from the 12 finalists.
